This Week in Women’s Basketball...
Upper Iowa hits the road for the final time of the 2010-11 season this weekend when they travel to Crookston and Moorhead for a pair of Northern Sun Intercolleigate Conference contests. On Friday, Upper Iowa visits Lysaker Gymnasium on the campus of UM, Crookston to battle the Golden Eagles. Then on Saturday, the Peacocks will play their final road game of the season when they stop in Moorhead for a clash with the Dragons of MSU Moorhead. Tipoff for both games is set for 6 p.m.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles of UM, Crookston enter Friday’s contest with an 11-11 record over and an 8-10 mark in NSIC play after losing in their last outing last Saturday night at home versus Minnesota Duluth, 78-65. Prior to that loss, the Golden Eagles had been on a three game winning streak.
UM, Crookston is currently in tenth place in the league standings, and are fighting for a NSIC/Sanford Health Conference Tournament spot as they are just one game behind seventh place MSU Moorhead.
The Golden Eagles have four players averaging in double figures and have the third most potent offense in the league by pouring in 74 points per outing. In addition, the Golden Eagles rank second as a team in field goal percentage (45.4%) and third in three-point shooting (36.5%).
Scouting the Dragons
MSU Moorhead enters Friday’s game with Winona State with a 12-10 record overall and a 9-9 mark in league play and enter the weekend riding a two-game winning streak. The Dragons defeated Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State last weekend and are in the midst of a four-game homestretch. The Dragons find themselves in seventh place in the NSIC standings with just four games left in the regular season.
Junior forward Angie Jetvig paces the Dragons with 19 points and 8.4 rebounds per game and is shooting 50.9% from beyond the three-point arc which is a reason the Dragons are third in the NSIC in three-point field goal percentage as a team.
MSU Moorhead is also the best rebounding team in the league by outrebounding their opponents on average by 9.6 boards per game.

Since transitioning to NCAA Division II,
the Peacocks are 0-8 when playing the
Dragons of MSU Moorhead and 3-4
when lining up against UM, Crookston.
The Last Meeting
This weekend marks the second time this season that UIU has played UM, Crookston and MSU Moorhead. UM, Crookston won a 74-59 game in Fayette on January 15 while MSU Moorhead defeated UIU the night before, 69-63.

This Week in Men’s Basketball...
The Peacocks hit the road for the final time of the regular season this weekend in hopes of gaining two valuble wins toward making the NSIC/Sanford Health Men’s Basketball Tournament. On Friday, UIU makes a stop in Crookston, Minn. for a showdown with the Golden Eagles of UM, Crookston.
Upper Iowa closes out the weekend on Saturday night when they travel to Moorhead, Minn. for a matchup with the Dragons of MSU Moorhead. Both games are slated for 8 p.m. starts.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
The UM, Crookston Golden Eagles enter Friday’s game with a 6-16 record overall and a 2-16 league mark. The Golden Eagles have lost seven consecutive games and sit in last place in the NSIC, three games behind 13th place Bemidji State.
Utah Valley State-transfer Eric Dearden leads the Golden Eagles with 14.4 points per game and is one of three players that average double figures for UM, Crookston. Friday’s opponent ranks near the bottom of every team statistical category in the NSIC including scoring margin where they get outscored by 6.3 points per game.
Scouting the Dragons
The Dragons of MSU Moorhead put a 13-9 record and a 10-8 league record on the line Friday evening when Winona State visits Moorhead. The Dragons are riding a two-game winning streak and sit in seventh place in the NSIC standings entering the second-to-last weekend of the regular season.
Saturday’s opponent has a very balanced scoring attack with five players averaging in double figures and while they’ve shot the fifth least amount of three-point buckets, they lead the conference in three-point shooting percentage by making 41.8% of their attempts.
Series History
Since becoming an NCAA Division II institution, the Peacocks are 6-3 when playing the Golden Eagles of UM, Crookston and 4-5 when matching up with the Dragons of MSU Moorhead.
The Last Meeting
This weekend marks the second time this season that UIU has played UM, Crookston and MSU Moorhead. On January 14, the Peacocks defeated the Dragons, 66-54 in Fayette.
The next evening, UIU was stunned by the Golden Eagles, 73-66, in overtime inside Dorman Gym.
