Chris Smith topped the 100-yard mark in the first half of the Peacocks' loss on Saturday. The true freshman from Brown Deer, Wisconsin tallied 133 yards on the ground on Saturday including a breakout 69-yard run that set up one of Steven Sandoval's three field goals.

Smith hit his career-high on just 15 carries for an average of 8.9 yards per carry. The young man also cuaght one pass from quarterback Cole Jaeschke for 11 yards.

The #1 Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth used a strong and consistent ground attack that picked up 245 yards and big plays on kick returns in the first half to claim a 49-22 victory over Upper Iowa.

The Peacocks surpassed the Bulldogs in total offense for the day (458-407), but penalties on key downs stifled the visitor’s offense. In total, UIU was flagged 10 times for a total of 54 yards, while the home team was only called for two penalties for a five-yard loss.
