FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacock men's soccer team (0-0-2) begins GLVC competition on the road. The team squares off against Missouri S&T (2-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Rolla, Missouri.

Upper Iowa tied both of its first two games of the season. They drew 1-1 at Roosevelt (Ill.) (1-0-1) on Thursday, then drew 0-0 at Viterbo (Wis.) (0-1-2) on Sunday.
Midfielder Timur Nagy recorded the team's first goal of the season against the Lakers. The junior took five shots, two on goal, during the game. Goalkeeper Noah Nymark-Pedersen posted nine saves between both games, with seven coming in the tie with the V-Hawks. Forward Nahum Gyslain Wellot Samba shot the ball times on goal during the game.
Forward Jannick Schlegel recorded three shots on the week, with one on goal. Defender Arnas Kurakinas, defender Carl Wilhelmsson, midfielder Santio Tapia Jr, forward Benjamin Wendel and defender Quirin Elias Haimmerer each had a shot.
AROUND THE GLVC
Missouri S&T is the lone team to start 2-0 while Missouri-St. Louis (1-0) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) (1-0) each have a win. UIndy (1-0-1) and Lincoln (Mo.) (1-0-1) both have a win and a tie.
Preseason No. 13 Rockhurst (Mo.) (1-1) lost, 4-1, against No. 3 Fort Hays State (Kan.) last Thursday. Indianapolis drew, 0-0, with No. 21 Cedarville (Ohio) (0-1-1) on the same day. Maryville (Mo.) (1-1), which was receiving votes, lost, 3-1, against No. 6 Rogers State (Okla.) (2-0) on Saturday. Illinois Springfield (0-2) squared off with Division I Western Illinois (2-1) on Sunday and lost, 4-0.
Upper Iowa vs Missouri S&T is the first matchup between two GLVC opponents. There are a total of six games on Saturday. The prominent one is UIndy, who is also receiving votes, against Rockhurst at 2:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE MINERS
Missouri S&T beat Northeastern State (Okla.) (0-2) this past Thursday, 2-1, and Davenport (Mich.) (0-2) on Saturday, 5-0.
Forward Mike Banasik has scored three goals, with two coming in the win over the Riverhawks. He also added five shots, with four on goal against the Panthers. Midfielder Luke Giesing totaled two assists between both games. Goalkeeper Cavitt Bruhn has two saves on the season.
The Miners are led by ninth-year head coach Robert Cummings. Cummings guided the team to a 9-6-3 overall record in 2025.
UP NEXT
UIU competes in one more road game on Wednesday, Sept. 9 against Missouri-St. Louis, before returning for its first home game on Saturday, Sept. 12 against McKendree (Ill.) (0-2). The Peacocks then continue their homestretch with a game against Lincoln (Mo.) on Wednesday, Sept.16.
