FAYETTE, Iowa - Peacock women's golf begins the 2026-27 season at the Minnesota State Fall Brawl on Monday and Tuesday. The opening tournament of the season takes place at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Head coach Mike Lewis enters his 16th season with the program in 2026-27. During his time at UIU, he's coached 11 all-conference performers.
MEET THE PEACOCKS: RETURNERS
UIU returns two golfers from the 2025-26 campaign, including All-GLVC Second Team selection Addison Weber. She became the first All-GLVC selection for the program since joining the conference. Her season was highlighted by five top-25 finishes, including a first-place finish at the William Penn Spring Statesmen Shootout.
"We're excited to have Addison back," Lewis said. "She has been working really hard on her body and her game. She had an elbow injury over the winter, but now she is back, stronger than ever and hitting it well. She continued to grow throughout the season last year. She has really done a great job of leading the team during the first bit of the season here and getting everybody to feel like they are part of it."
Fern Babinski is also back after her freshman season in 2025-26, where she shot an average of 85.9 through 22 rounds. The Michigan native totaled four top-30 finishes, including taking 16th at the William Penn Spring Statesmen Shootout and a 23rd at the Upper Iowa Women's Spring Invite.
"She is always a hoot to be around," Lewis said. "She has her own little quirks in her game, but she is a competitor and will give us everything she has. It's nice to have her and Addison back."
MEET THE PEACOCKS: NEWCOMERS
After graduating three players from last season, UIU went out and added four newcomers to the roster. These four newcomers are Kathryn Ballard, Fabiana Barrero Campo, Kiley Broderick and Morgan Krall.
Krall is a dual-sport athlete for the Peacocks as she will also compete for the women's wrestling team this winter. She took fourth at the Class 2A State Championships last season with a score of 153 (+11) for Jesup High School.
"It's nice to have her on the squad," Lewis said. "She will obviously be committed to golf in the fall, wrestling in the winter and then golf again in the spring. She'll be really busy, but I believe she can handle it."
Kathryn Ballard is the other newcomer from Iowa, competing at Martensdale-St. Mary's High School. She finished sixth at the Class 1A State Championships with a score of 164 (+20).
"She played on a pretty strong golf team at Martensdale-St. Mary's that made it to state," Lewis said. "I can't wait to see how she continues to grow and learn how to transition from high school golf to college golf."
Fabiana Barrero Campo joins the team and hails from Bogotá, Colombia. She is the first international golfer to join the program during Lewis' tenure.
"Fabiana has been a breath of fresh air for us," Lewis said. "She brings a different vibe to the group as an international player. She is very good on the golf course, fun-loving and has a great attitude. She is always smiling and laughing. We look to her to be a definite contributor to the scoring."
Lastly, Kiley Broderick joins the team from Glenville, Minnesota. The criminal justice major will be a nice addition to the team this season.
"I'm excited for her to develop her game throughout the season," Lewis said. "With our training, we look for her to continue pushing and improving as we go along."
SCHEDULE PREVIEW
The Peacocks are playing at four out of the five tournaments they competed at last fall. UIU's only difference is that they will be competing at Southwest Minnesota State's EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite on Sept. 26-27.
"We try to keep the schedule very similar so we have some continuity," Lewis said. "The more times you play a golf course, the more you pick up on it. You know what to expect, what to stay away from, where you can attack and where you have to play a little more conservatively."
After the Minnesota State Fall Brawl, the Peacocks will be competing at the Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) Jewel Invitational on Sept. 21-22. Following the Mustang Invite, UIU will head to the Lewis Flyers Fall Intercollegiate on Oct. 5-6 and wrap up the fall with the Bearcat Dual Gender on Oct. 19-20.
