LEMONT, Ill. - Peacock women's golf wrapped up play at the three-round Flyers Fall Intercollegiate with a fifth-place finish out of 11 teams. UIU was led by junior Addison Weber, tying for 19th with a score of 244 (+28).
Weber's best round was the first where she shot 79 (+7). She added an 82 (+10) and an 83 (+11) in the next two rounds. Weber led the Peacocks with 29 pars while totaling two birdies.
Fern Babinski tied for 27th with a score of 248 (+32). After an 86 (+14) in round one on Monday, she rebounded with an 80 (+8) in the second round. Babinski had the second-best score of any Peacock in the third round with an 82 (+10). The sophomore totaled 25 pars and three birdies.
Kathryn Ballard was a birdie machine, totaling six to tie for the fifth-most at the tournament. She started Monday with back-to-back birdies and finished the round with three total. The freshman shot rounds of 79 (+7), 91 (+19) and 82 (+10) for a total of 252 (+36) to tie for 33rd.
Freshman Morgan Krall finished 36th with three birdies and 23 pars. She posted rounds of 81 (+9), 84 (+12) and 88 (+16) for a total of 253 (+37). Krall recorded two birdies in the first round.
Fabiana Barrero Campo ended the tournament with an eagle on hole six, making her one of two players to score an eagle. She improved every round with scores of 88 (+16), 87 (+15) and a team-low third round of 79 (+7). Barrero Campo had the second-most birdies on the team with 26 and finished 37th with a total score of 254 (+38).
The Peacocks finished with a team score of 984 (+120) after rounds of 325 (+37), 333 (+45) and 326 (+38). UIU was eight strokes behind Lincoln (Mo.) in fourth and three strokes ahead of Northern Michigan in sixth. This marks UIU's highest finish at the Flyers Fall Intercollegiate since 2021, when the team took third place.
The host team, Lewis (Ill.), won the tournament with a score of 921 (+57) that included a 307 (+19) in the third round. McKendree (Ill.) took third with a 937 (+73), and Parkside (Wis.) took third with a 937 (+83).
McKendree's Alba Camps finished first with a score of 226 (+10), including a 71 (-1) in round two. Lewis' Sophia Lawler, Kyra Simon and Ellie Johnson took second, third and fourth, respectively.
Upper Iowa wraps up the fall season in two weeks at the Bearcat Dual Gender on Oct. 19-20. The tournament takes place in Caseyville, Illinois at the Far Oaks Golf Club.
