DES MOINES, Iowa  – Eliana Callies (160) took second place after winning four matches at The Grand View Open, which featured 56 teams from all over the country. The field included several nationally ranked programs, including No. 1 Iowa, No. 3 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 11 Quincy, No. 13 Fort Hays State and No. 19 Simpson.

Callies defeated Cecilia Lynch of Baker (Kan.), Addy Pasley of William Woods (Mo.), Baylie Wehmeyer of Morningside and Charlize Jewell of Vanguard (Cal.). Callies also beat Wehmeyer on Jan. 30 in the UIU Triangular. 

Callies won two matches by tech fall and two matches by fall. She fell to Lillian Baynes of Quincy in the championship match. The Rochester, Minnesota native picked up her 21st win of the season.

Kylee Shoop (131) took fourth place with a team-high six wins during the open. She beat Lily McMahon of Simpson, Haylie Hallman of Avila (Kan.), Abigail Ji of Iowa Lakes Community College, Paige Mobley of Grand Valley State (Mich.), Brooklyn Sheaffer of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and Faith Vondy with Texas Wesleyan. Three of her wins were by fall, and two were by tech fall. She improved to 22-10 overall on the season. 

Bentley Hills (103) won her first match against Kyra Gonzalez of Midland (Neb.) with a fall. 

Upper Iowa begins postseason matches on Feb. 20-21 in the NCAA Region V Championships.
