DIXON, Ill.- The Peacocks won the Sauk Valley Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday. Senior Katie Kraft finished second individually with a career-best time of 21:17.0.
Junior Jaydin Dettman placed third with a personal-best time of 22:02.0. Senior Olivia Hamblin took fourth with a personal-best time of 22:10.0.
The team totaled 32 points and posted an average time of 22:55. Saturday's victory marks UIU's highest team finish since 2019, when the Peacocks placed second at the Saint Mary's Alumni Open in Minnesota.
Upper Iowa had two other runners finish in the top 20. Freshman Merrin Hanson placed 13th with a time of 24:15.0. Freshman Maya Gonzalez finished 19th with a career-best time of 24:52.0.
Sophomore Lisbeth Trinidad-Valerio claimed 22nd with a personal-best time of 25:10.0. Senior Rio Johnson finished 39th with a time of 31:15.0.
Moody Bible Institute (Ill.) took second with a score of 53. The team averaged a time of 23:49. Joliet Junior College (Ill.) placed third with a score of 67 and an average time of 24:29.
Aniyah Jackson-Bey of Highland CC (Ill.) won the meet individually. She finished the race in 21:14.0. Samantha Hundt of Moody Bible Institute claimed fifth with a time of 22:11.0
The Peacocks wrap up their regular season at the Luther Legends Invite on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. UIU begins the postseason at the GLVC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7.
