INDIANAPOLIS - Griffin Luke earned GLVC Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday following his performance this past weekend in UIU's 28-13 win over Maryville. This marks the fourth weekly award for the team this season and the first of the redshirt sophomore's career.
Luke upset No. 7 and defending national champion Cole Ritter at 174 pounds with a second-period fall on Friday. His win was one of four bonus-point wins for the Peacocks against the Saints.
He joins Lawson Losee on Nov. 20, Matthew Marcum on Dec. 10 and Braxten Westendorf last week on Jan. 14 as UIU's GLVC Wrestlers of the Week this season. Four weekly awards mark the most in a season for the team since joining the GLVC.
The Peacocks are back in action this weekend against No. 8 McKendree and No. 20 UIndy. Action is scheduled for 6 p.m. against the Bearcats on Thursday and 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT against the Greyhounds on Friday.
