FAYETTE, Iowa - Kylee Shoop (131) won three matches for Upper Iowa at Saturday's Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational hosted by Cornell College. The Invite featured NWCA-ranked competition in No. 1 Iowa, No. 10 Northern Michigan, No. 13 Wartburg and No. 16 Simpson.
Shoop was victorious in all three of her matches by fall, defeating Paige Haaf of Augsburg (Minn.), Alysia Yoder of Central Methodist (Mo.) and Alila Beck of Illinois Wesleyan. She improved her record to 14-9 this season.
Eliana Callies (160) and Gracee Tompkins (180) both picked up victories on the day. Callies won her first match by fall over Dakota Cornell of Central College (3:40). Tompkins won by fall over Laura Totty of Central College (3:29).
The Peacocks finished 11th out of 18 teams with 17.5 team points, finishing ahead of Loras College, which had 17 points. Iowa won the meet with 195 points. Wartburg took second with 121, Northern Michigan took third with 85 and Simpson took fourth with 83.
Upper Iowa competes next weekend for a tripleheader of GLVC duals hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. The Peacocks will face William Jewell (Mo.), Davenport (Mich.) and Quincy (Ill.) on Saturday, Jan. 24. The Upper Triangular is right around the corner as well, taking place on Jan. 30 in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium.
