FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa women's wrestling competes in the Lakeland Scramble on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The meet is hosted by Lakeland (Wis.) and will take place in Plymouth, Wis.
LAKELAND SCRAMBLE
The scramble will take place at Woltzen Gymnasium. The meet features Carthage (Ill.), CIRTC (Ill.), Joliet (Ill.), Lakeland, WSOE (Wis.), Southeastern (Iowa) and Wisconsin Stevens Point.
LAST TIME OUT
The Peacocks last wrestled in the Fred Johnson Duals hosted by Augustana (Ill.). UIU lost to Carthage, 36-8, and lost to Augustana, 41-1. Freshman Kylee Shoop (131), freshman Eliana Callies (160) and senior Mya Mendoza (180) all wrestled for Upper Iowa.
Mendoza moved up to the 207 weight class and went 1-1. She earned five points after pinning Jasmin Ocampo (Carthage) at 2:06.
Callies earned four points on the day. Her three points came after she defeated Josie Hosea (Carthage) in a 5-1 decision. Callies recorded a point against Maryam Ndiaye (Augustana) even though she lost by a 7-2 decision.
GLVC WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
Mendoza earned GLVC Wrestler of the Week after moving up a weight class and scoring five points. She is the first wrestler to win this award in UIU women's wrestling history.
2025 LAKELAND SCRAMBLE
Upper Iowa scored 28.5 points in last year's meet. Toyia Griffin took second place and scored 15.5 points. Makayla Matson took third place and scored 13 points.
UP NEXT
The Peacocks return to Iowa next weekend to wrestle in the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational hosted by Cornell. The invite will take place in Mount Vernon at 9 a.m.
