PEACOCKS CONCLUDE SEASON AT GLVC CHAMPIONSHIPS… The Upper Iowa University women's track and field team wrapped up their season at the GLVC Conference Championships, finishing 11th overall in the three-day meet with seven points. Lewis University claimed the team title with 226 points, followed by Lincoln University with 129 points, and Southwest Baptist in third with 107.
Thursday Highlights: Upper Iowa's events began with the hammer throw.
Kiana Maghanoy led the way for the Peacocks, finishing 22nd with a mark of 37.46 meters.
Myah Brinker also competed in the event, placing 23rd with a throw of 36.81 meters.
Friday Highlights:
Myah Brinker returned to the shot-put event, while
Haylie Hutchinson had a big day on the track. She qualified for both hurdle finals after placing 6th in the 100m hurdles prelims (15.16) and 3rd in the 400m hurdles prelims with a time of 1:05.
Saturday Highlights:
Saturday saw several Lady Peacocks in action. Hutchinson placed eighth in the triple jump with a top mark of 11.19m. She also competed in both hurdle finals, placing seventh in the 100m hurdles (14.99) and seventh once again in the 400m hurdles (1:07.07).
In the relays, the 4x100m team of
Jillian Dodds,
Haylie Hutchinson,
Maile Kehano, and
Carolina Regalado placed seventh with a time of 51.15. The 4x400m relay team (Dodds,
Jasheana Tracey,
Eryn Sabelka, and Hutchinson) closed out the weekend with a tenth-place finish in 4:10.79.
The Lady Peacocks showed heart and hustle all weekend, capping off their season with strong individual and team efforts against tough competition. With a solid young team that will be coming back, it will be exciting to see what is on the Horizon for the Lady Peacocks next season.
