Peacocks Soar to Victory at Rittgers Invitational

PEACOCKS SHINE AT RITTGERS INVITE IN CEDAR RAPIDS…The Upper Iowa women's track and field team delivered a strong performance at the Rittgers Invite, capturing multiple first-place finishes and showing depth across sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws. The Peacocks placed first with 142 points, Mount Mercy followed with 139 points and Coe College finished third with 64 points.

Haylie Hutchinson (SO) had an impressive performance in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finishing first with a time of 15.36. She also claimed first place in the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.89 meters (35-8.75 in), showcasing her versatility and skill across multiple events.

Jordan Sekafetz (SR) earned second place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.22 and secured first place in the women's long jump, leaping 4.67 meters (15-3.75in). Jordan's ability to excel in both sprinting and jumping events contributed greatly to Upper Iowa's success.

Carolina Regalado (SR) ran the women's 100-meter dash, finishing in first place with a time of 12.94. She also helped Upper Iowa's 4x400-meter relay team finish second with a time of 4:09.93, contributing to the team's strong showing in the competition.

Jillian Dodds (JR) ran the 100-meter dash in 13.00, placing second. Additionally, she ran in the 4x400-meter relay, helping Upper Iowa secure second place. Jillian's consistent performance across events was vital for her team's competitiveness.

Maile Kehano (FR) competed in the women's 100-meter dash, finishing 6th with a time of 13.79. She also participated in the 4x400-meter relay, where Upper Iowa's B team finished with a time of 4:37.02, contributing valuable points for the team.

Myah Brinker (SR) placed second in the women's shot put with a throw of 12.12 meters (39-9.25in) and third in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 40.31 meters (132-3.00in). Her strong performances in the field events were key to Upper Iowa's overall success.

Kiana Maghanoy (SR) finished fourth in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.75 meters (35-3.25in) and second in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 42.79 meters (140-5.00in). Kiana's efforts in the throwing events bolstered Upper Iowa's performance, showcasing her strength and consistency.

Genevieve Chenoweth (SR) participated in the women's shot put, finishing seventh with a distance of 9.23 meters (30-3.50in), contributing to the team's total score.

Rio Johnson (SO) competed in the shot put, earning eighth place with a throw of 7.48 meters (24-6.50in). Her participation added further depth to the team's efforts.

WHAT'S NEXT… Next week the Peacocks will be heading to Roseville, Ill. for the GLVC Championships. The meet is set to start on Friday, May 2nd and go through Saturday May 3rd, with the start time yet to be announced.
