FOREST CITY, Iowa – Upper Iowa women's wrestling competed on Saturday in the Waldorf University Open. Kylee Shoop placed third with 21.5 points, while Eliana Callies placed fifth with 19 points.

Shoop won in the first round by a fall over Stevy Griffin of Iowa Lakes CC (Fall  0:36). In the third-place match, she won by a fall over Alyssa Jones of Minot State (N.D.) in their second meeting on the mat. Shoop was 2-0 on the day against Jones.  

After receiving a bye in the first round of the consolation bracket, Callies won in the second round by a fall over Kinalisa Lokot of Buena Vista (Fall: 3:33). After losing by a decision to Julie Maylum (Wartburg), she beat Lucy Kohnen (Iowa Central Community College) to take fifth place.

Ryley Hartman was the only other Peacock to record points (four). She earned this by winning by a fall over Callee Shearer of Morningside (Fall 3:36).
 
Next weekend, UIU will head to Luther College to wrestle in the Luther Open at 9 a.m.
