FAYETTE, Iowa - The Peacock football team (7-2, 5-1 GLVC) was selected ninth in the first ranked release of the NCAA Super Region Three Rankings. This is the first season in program history where the Peacocks have been featured in the regional rankings.

The top eight teams make the Super Region Three Playoffs. There are four regions, putting 32 teams in the Division II Playoffs nationwide. A third rankings release will come out next Monday, Nov. 10. The NCAA Division II Playoffs Selection Show is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, and will air on NCAA.com. 

The same 10 teams that made up last week's alphabetical order rankings are also featured this week. There are three teams from the GLVC, three teams from the NSIC, three teams from the G-MAC and one team from the GLIAC represented in the rankings. 

Defending National Champion Ferris State (Mich.) leads the rankings in first. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 1 in the AFCA coaches' Poll with 31 first-place votes. Ferris State is the lone GLIAC team featured. 

Findlay (Ohio) is in second. The Oilers have wins over UIndy and Northwood, who are also featured in the rankings. UIndy comes in third, with wins over regionally ranked Ashland (Ohio) and Truman State (Mo.). The Greyhounds are the top-ranked team from the GLVC. 

Ashland is in fourth, and the NSIC sees its first representation in fifth and sixth with Augustana (S.D.) and Minnesota Duluth, respectively. Truman State is in seventh, and Minnesota State rounds out the top eight. Northwood is in 10th after losing to Findlay, 31-16, this past Saturday.

There are two matchups this upcoming weekend that can potentially shake up the rankings. No. 2 Findlay travels to No. 4 Ashland, and No. 5 Augustana hosts No. 8 Minnesota State. 

Upper Iowa closes out the home schedule with Senior Day against Quincy (Ill.) (5-4, 3-3 GLVC) on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Harms-Eischeid Stadium. The Peacocks are scheduled to travel to UIndy to close the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15.
