INDIANAPOLIS - Linebacker Evan Dorn earned GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honors after totaling 22 tackles and forcing a fumble in Upper Iowa's 39-37 double-overtime victory against Missouri S&T. The 22 tackles are the most for the Peacocks in the NCAA Division II era and the most for the program since at least 2001.
Dorn surpassed Alex Wahl in 2014 with 20 tackles against Bemidji State for the most since the school joined the NCAA. He led the team with five solo tackles, and his forced fumble led to a touchdown to help UIU take its first lead of the game in the second quarter.
The junior from Denver becomes the second player for the Peacocks to earn GLVC Weekly honors this season, as quarterback Zamar Wise earned the offensive award after the win against Jamestown (N.D.).This is the first defensive honor for UIU since Shaquille Roman won in back-to-back weeks last season on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3.
Upper Iowa is back at home this Saturday for homecoming against Truman State (Mo.) (2-3, 2-0 GLVC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Harms-Eischeid Stadium.
