FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa named Sarah Hull as the next head coach of the Peacock volleyball program, removing the interim tag after she took over on Sept. 22. Athletic Director Rick Hartzell announced the promotion on Monday.
"I am excited to have Sarah as our new head volleyball coach," Hartzell said. "Sarah is a UIU alumna and knows this volleyball program inside and out. I am certain that she will do a great job in moving this program back to the status we all expect. She can coach, she has proven that she can recruit by the recent signees, and we fully expect that this volleyball program will return to a postseason tournament team in the very near future under Sarah's guidance."
Hull previously played for the UIU volleyball program as a libero from 2020-22, appearing in 166 sets over the course of 49 matches. She made six starts as a defensive specialist, accumulating 348 digs in her career for an average of 2.10 per set.
"I am thrilled to be stepping into the head coaching role for Upper Iowa Volleyball," Hull said. "This program holds a special place in my heart, and I feel so blessed that I get to continue to be a part of it. I was blessed to have been able to play for this program and thankful that I can continue my time here as a coach. Upper Iowa Volleyball has helped shape me, and I can't wait to help bring it to the next level."
The Lyons, Colorado, native earned the Myles Brand All-Academic Distinction Award Winner in 2022. She graduated from Upper Iowa in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports studies and earned a master's degree in sports administration.
"I want to thank Rick Hartzell for giving me this opportunity and for trusting me to lead this program," Hull said. "I also want to thank Aaron Nelson for bringing me to Upper Iowa as a player in 2019 and for having faith in me to join the coaching staff later on. Finally, I want to thank every member of the team who has supported me through these last few years. Their support, trust and buy-in have been extremely valuable, and I wouldn't want to work with any other group."
The Peacocks went 7-9 under Hull's leadership this season, ending with a three-set sweep this past weekend against Truman State.
