Upper Iowa men's basketball set for exhibition game against Northern Iowa on Saturday night

Admission is free for all fans at McLeod Arena on Friday night

FAYETTE, Iowa - The Upper Iowa men's basketball team travels to Cedar Falls on Saturday for an exhibition game against Northern Iowa. Admission is free for all fans at the game in the McLeod Center at 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE PEACOCKS
Upper Iowa begins the Casey Kasperbauer era in the program's 111th season. He joins a team that went 21-9 last season and finished third in the GLVC. 

UIU's top returner is Kyle Hrncir, who earned Second Team All-GLVC honors. He averaged 12.4 points per game last season and started in all 30 games. Jack Miller also returns for his sophomore season after averaging 5.5 points per game in 2024-25. UIU returns 11 players from last year's squad, but brings in 10 new faces. 

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Northern Iowa is entering its 125th season as a program this year. The Panthers are coming off a 20-13 season last year, making the NIT Tournament. Northern Iowa had the second-best scoring defense in the Missouri Valley Conference last season giving up 67.4 points per game. UNI was picked second in this season's MVC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

The Panthers return 11 players from last year's roster, which is tied for the third-most by any team in Division I. UNI will have to replace its top two scorers from last season in Tytan Anderson and Jacob Hutson. Cedar Rapids native Trey Campbell is back after averaging 11.4 points per game last season.

Head coach Ben Jacobsen begins his 20th season with Northern Iowa. He has a 374-245 career record and is the second-winningest coach in the Missouri Valley Conference.
