INDIANAPOLIS - The Upper Iowa football team (6-2, 4-1 GLVC) was featured in the first NCAA Super Region Three rankings on Monday. In this initial ranking, the top 10 teams in the region are unranked and put in alphabetical order.
This is the first time that Upper Iowa has received an NCAA Regional Ranking in football. The Peacocks won their sixth game this past weekend, marking back-to-back seasons with six or more wins for the first time since 2014-15.
The poll features teams from the GLVC, GLIAC, G-MAC and NSIC. The Peacocks are one of three GLVC teams featured in the rankings. No. 12 UIndy (7-1, 5-0 GLVC) and Truman State (5-3, 4-1 GLVC) are both featured as well.
From the GLIAC, No. 1 Ferris State (Mich.) (8-0) is the only representative. No. 17 Ashland (Ohio) (7-1), No. 11 Findlay (Ohio) (8-0) and Northwood (Mich.) (7-1) represent the G-MAC. The NSIC is represented by No. 5 Augustana (S.D.) (8-0), No. 13 Minnesota Duluth (7-1) and No. 18 Minnesota State (6-2).
There will be two more releases for the rankings over the next two weeks, both of which will order the teams based on their ranking. The top eight teams from each region will make the Division II Football Playoffs, a change from seven teams last season.
The NCAA Division II Playoffs Selection Show is slated for Nov. 16 with the 32-team playoffs beginning on Saturday, Nov. 22.
