No. 22 Men's wrestling tabbed second in GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll

Peacocks ranked No. 22 in preseason NWCA poll; second in GLVC preseason poll

FAYETTE, Iowa - The men's wrestling Preseason Coaches' poll was released by the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) on Thursday afternoon. The Peacocks were selected second in the poll with 19 points. 

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) also released its preseason poll on Thursday. The Peacocks are tied with Maryville at No. 22 in the rankings. Both teams received 22.5 points in the poll. 

In the GLVC poll, Upper Iowa finished six points behind McKendree in first. The Bearcats also received five first-place votes. UIndy took the final first-place vote in third, totaling 17 points. Last season, the Peacocks finished in second place as McKendree won the GLVC Championship. 

McKendree is the highest-ranked GLVC team in the NWCA poll at No. 13. The Bearcats received 31 points in the poll. 

UIU's top returner is Lawson Losee, who earned All-American honors last season. He finished in sixth place at 174 pounds at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.

The Peacocks start the season in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium against Hawkeye Community College. The dual starts at 7 p.m.
