INDIANAPOLIS - Nathan Behne and Trevor Thompson earned GLVC Player of the Week honors after UIU's 39-2 win over Southwest Baptist (Mo.) on Saturday. The Peacocks have now had an offensive, defensive and special teams player earn GLVC accolades this season.
Thompson helped the Peacock defense hold Southwest Baptist to 36 rushing yards and zero offensive points. SBU entered the game with the second-best scoring offense and second-best rushing offense in the GLVC. The linebacker also had seven tackles (three solo) and an interception.
Behne hit the two longest field goals of his career with a 49-yarder and a 51-yarder. He had three punts with an average of 53.7 yards. He leads the GLVC in punting average at 44.6 yards per punt.
This marks the second time this season the Peacocks have been featured in the weekly honors after Mante Morrow was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15.
This is the second time Behne has won a GLVC Player of the Week award. He earned the honor last season after the 51-7 season-closing victory against Missouri S&T.
Thompson is the first GLVC Defensive Player of the Week for the Peacocks since Ben Kamara earned it on Sept. 9, 2024. Kamara earned the award after recording two interceptions in the victory over Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.).
The Peacock football team is back in action this weekend on the road against William Jewell (Mo.) (2-5, 0-4 GLVC). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Liberty, Missouri.
