RECAPPING THE MIKE DUROE INVITE… Toyia Griffin (180) and
Bentley Hills (103) each placed sixth overall this past weekend at Cornell College. Griffin accumulated 11.5 team points, as she won by fall over Danyia Werner of Buena Vista and followed that up with a 10-0 tech fall victory against Sifa Feruzi of Illinois Wesleyan. Hills added 6.0 team points for UIU, as she closed out the tournament with a 14-4 tech fall defeat to Lainey Shelangoski of Wartburg.
GRAND VIEW GREATS… The Vikings have posted a 7-1 record on the season, and are coming off a second-place finish at the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals. They took down Doane 37-9, Indiana Tech 33-11 and Southern Oregon 33-10 before falling to Life by a score of 30-12 in the finals. 124-pounder Maya Davis posted a perfect 4-0 record at the competition, winning one match by fall, two matches by tech fall and one by decision. 207-pounder Olivia Brown also had a perfect tournament going 3-0 as she won two matches by decision and one by tech fall.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will close out the regular season at the Warrior Open in Fremont, Neb. Midland will be hosting the meet which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8 at a time that is yet to be determined.
