Men’s Wrestling Boasts Seven All-GLVC Honorees

The Upper Iowa men's wrestling squad garnered a share of the Great Lakes Valley Conference title in their debut season with the league after posting a 5-1 record. Their regular season was punctuated by seven all conference selections. Colter Bye and Eric Faught were named to the First Team All-GLVC, Tate Murty, Chase Luensman, Jordan Baumler and James Davis earned All-GLVC Second Team honors, while Treyton Ackman grabbed a spot on the All-GLVC Third Team. 
 
Eric Faught and Bye went undefeated in conference play. Faught, the 157-pounder, registered five GLVC wins on the year, one by forfeit and the other four by tech fall. He earned GLVC Wrestler of the Week after the last two conference duals for his efforts. At 184 pounds, Bye picked up two tech falls and three wins by decision to put together his flawless 5-0 league record. 
 
The second team nominees only recorded one loss this season.  Tate Murty (141 pounds) posted a 5-1 record, with three wins by fall, one by major decision and the other by decision. His only loss in the GLVC came to No. 3 Ronan Schuelke of McKendree by a 4-1 decision. 
 
Chase Luensman, the 165-pounder, tallied five wins and one loss. He collected three wins by tech fall, one by fall and one major decision. His only loss was to No. 4 Cory Peterson of McKendree, where he fell in a close 4-3 decision. 
 
James Davis (133 pounds) was named to the second team after collecting two wins by tech fall, one forfeit win, one major decision and a win by decision. His loss was to Ryan Ripplinger of McKendree by 2-1 decision. 
 
Jordan Baumler (285 pounds) recorded four wins by fall and one loss by decision to Ryan Herman of Maryville in a 6-2 decision. 
 
The 125-pounder Treyton Ackman notched a spot on the third team after posting four wins on the year and two losses. He earned wins by fall, major decision, decision and by forfeit. His two losses were by tech fall and major decision.
 
The Peacocks are set to compete at the Super Region V in Minot, N.D. on Saturday in search of NCAA postseason berth at the Division II National Championships in Park City, Kan. on March 15-16.
