Upper Iowa men's wrestling went 2-0 at the Final Site Duals in St. Louis, Mo. on Sunday afternoon to claim a share of the GLVC crown, alongside McKendree and Maryville, in their debut season as a part of the league. The Peacocks finished 5-1 in the conference, two of those wins coming at the GLVC Championships against Quincy (48-3) and Indianapolis (29-15). The team finished 9-5 on the season in dual meets as they now prepare for the Super Region V in Minot, N.D on Saturday, March 2.
The Peacocks opened their day of competition against the Quincy Hawks, defeating them in a 48-3 decision. UIU won nine out of the ten bouts, compiling one major decision, four tech falls and four falls. The first three matches concluded in a variety of ways as
Treyton Ackman (125) trumped his opponent by major decision (9-0), followed by
James Davis (133) who came out on top by tech fall, while
Tate Murty (141) pinned Sabian Russell in 1:49.
The Hawks gathered their only success of the dual at 149 as Lucas Clement edged out
Jackson Rolfs by decision (10-6). Upper Iowa rattled off the next six bouts in style, winning either by tech fall or by fall.

Lawson Losee (174) and
Cameron Lopez (197) each were successful by tech fall, bringing back five team points.
Chase Luensman (165),
Cael Meyer (184) and
Jordan Baumler (285) all defeated their opponents by fall, giving the Peacocks an 18-point boost.
In their second matchup of the day, UIU took home seven of the ten bouts against the Greyhounds while executing 28 takedowns and three opportunities where they received 4 nearfall points.
Upper Iowa got off to another hot start as they recorded wins in the first six bouts for an early 24-0 lead. Ackman registered a win by decision, while Davis, Faught and Luensman grabbed victories by tech fall and Murty and Rolfs earned a major decision.
The Greyhounds edged out the 174 bout as Losee came out on the wrong side of a tough-fought decision, falling 8-7.
Colter Bye came to the mat next in his first appearance of the day and earned a win by decision (9-4). Lopez was pinned in the next match at 197 and the Peacocks were open at 285, giving UIndy 12 of their 15 total points to end the dual.
The team is set to prepare for the NCAA Super Region V in Minot, N.D. held on March 2 with two sessions, the first one held at 10 a.m. and the other with a 4 p.m. start time.
