The Great Lakes Valley Conference released the 2023 Football Preseason Coaches' Poll and Upper Iowa was selected seventh in their debut campaign with the GLVC.  

The Peacock football team closed the 2022 season with a 1-10 mark. Their win came at home against Minot State University as UIU outscored their guests 33-22.  The team is prepped and ready to get back into Harms-Eischeid Stadium this fall under the leadership of fourth-year Head Coach Jason Hoskins. 

"As soon as we completed last season, our kids didn't break stride," said Hoskins. "The entire staff began prepping our student-athletes and everyone started putting in the work for next year." 

The University of Indianapolis was voted first in the preseason coaches' poll as the unanimous choice to win the 2023 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) football title. The preseason poll is selected by the league's eight head coaches, who, per GLVC Bylaws, are not permitted to vote for their own team. 

"The GLVC is a great league and we are happy to be a part of it," noted Hoskins. "We are an extremely young football team that played 17 true freshmen in the last two years. With a couple seasons under their belts now, the guys are starting to mature and understand what it means to play championship level football." 

The 2023 GLVC Champion will be determined by the results of the round-robin league schedule. Co-Champions will be named in the result of a tie, which has happened once since football became a Conference-sponsored sport in 2012 when Southwest Baptist and Truman shared the crown in 2016.
