After a lengthy time away from the links, the Upper Iowa men's golf team opened the spring portion of their schedule this week at the Lindenwood Invitational. The event was hosted by Lindenwood University at Missouri Bluffs Golf Club and featured teams from 15 different schools. The Peacocks went on to finish in 12th place with a final score of 645 (+77) after rounds of 326 and 319.
Hutchinson Community College finished in first place with a score of 590 (+22) after rounds of 299 and 291. They were followed by the hosts in Lindenwood with a score of 592 (+24) and Indian Hills Community College with a score of 609 (+41).
Individually, Hutchinson's Dominic Clemons earned medalist honors with a score of 142 (E) after rounds of 72 and 70. He was followed by his teammate in Alex Lindstrom who finished with a score of 144 (+2) after rounds of 73 and 71.
Tate Carlson paced the Peacocks, finishing in a tie for 33rd place with a score of 157 (+15) behind rounds of 75 and 82. He was followed by
Nathan Petrak, who completed the tournament with a score of 160 (+18), improving upon his first-round score by six strokes on day two.
Owen Davison and
Ashton Martens each recorded overall scores of 164 (+22) with Davison improving by 10 strokes from round one to round two. Competing as an individual,
Nolan Ross carded a score of 168 (+26).
Jacob Mahloch rounded out the team score at 184 (+42).
Individually, Carlson finished in a tie for fourth place in Par 5 scoring with a stroke average of 4.75 (-2). Petrak would go on to tie for fifth in Par 3 scoring with a stroke average of 3.10 (+1).
Up next, UIU will prep to compete in the NSIC Preview. The event is set to take place starting on March 27 at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri.
