ROAD-TRIP RECAP… The Peacocks are coming off a road trip where they lost 1-2 to Southwest Baptist and tied Drury 2-2. Freshman midfielder
Preston Price score his second goal of the season as time expired against Southwest Baptist, while sophomore midfielder
Wilmer Canales scored the game-tying goal in the 86
th minute against Drury.
GOALS GALORE… The Peacocks have scored 22 goals on the season, which is the most in the GLVC. Only five players in the entire conference have scored four goals, and three of them play for UIU. Sophomore midfielder
Mateo Rodriguez has scored four goals and four assists, giving him a total of 12 points on the season which ranks first in the GLVC. Rodriguez opened the season with a two assist game against St. Ambrose and scored twice in the Peacocks most recent home game against Quincy. Junior midfielder
Frider Blunck has scored four goals as well, while picking up three assists on the season. His 11 points rank second in the GLVC and Blunck's best game of the season came in UIU's 5-1 victory over St. Cloud State when he scored a goal and assisted twice in an 11-minute span. Rounding out the four-goal club for the Peacocks is graduate forward
Thomas Walle who also has one assist on the year. Despite the fact that he has only played in six of the Peacocks nine games, Walle leads the GLVC with 12 shots on goal and has attempted at least one shot on goal in every game he has played in.
ASTONISHING ASSISTS … 18 of the Peacocks 22 goals have been assisted on, which once again leads the GLVC. Highlighting the Peacocks playmaking is graduate defender
Daigo Adachi who leads the GLVC with five assists. Adachi assisted twice in the Peacocks season opener and the Peacocks have never lost in games where he has picked up at least one assist. Sophomore forward
Fabio Bender has assisted three times in the Peacocks last three games, highlighted by a two-assist performance against Quincy.
WINLESS WILLIAM JEWELL… The Cardinals have started the season 0-7-2 and are coming off back-to-back ties including a 1-1 tie against reigning GLVC champions, Maryville. Leading the scoring effort is senior midfielder Cole Bulgren and sophomore midfielder Alexis Ibarra who both have two goals on the season, with Ibarra adding one assist on the year. Sophomore forward Henry Staebell joins Ibarra as the only other member of the team with a goal and an assist. Anchoring the Cardinals defensive line are senior Sam Wambold and junior Sage Smotherman who have started every game of the season.
HIGHLIGHTING THE HAWKS… Rockhurst is 3-5-1 on the year and are coming off a 1-0 loss to Maryville. Graduate goalkeeper Fabio D'Errico has had an impressive start to the year as he has saved 28 shots which is the 6
th most in the GLVC. He has recorded shutouts against Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri S&T while recording a save percentage of 75.7% on the season. Rockhurst has only scored one goal in their past six games, and all six of their goals have been scored and assisted on by a different player. Junior midfielder Jacopo Belardo scored in the Hawks season opener and assisted on the game-winning goal against Missouri S&T. Belardo has recorded ten shots on goal, ranking him 4
th in the GLVC. A duo of seniors in defender Cristoforo LiCavoli and Tomasso Tirabassi also have one goal and one assist on the year.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will travel back to Missouri, before traveling to Illinois for the first time this season as they face Missouri-St. Louis and McKendree. They go up against Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and McKendree on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
