THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK MEN'S SOCCER… Upper Iowa will wrap up their regular season on the road with their two most important games of the season as a trip to the GLVC Tournament is on the line. The Peacocks take on Missouri S&T on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. before taking on Maryville on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m.
LIVE COVERAGE OPTIONS… Upper Iowa offers numerous ways for you to stay connected to men's soccer this week. Webcasts for every game can be found through the GLVC website at

WHO'S IN?... Five teams have clinched a spot in the conference tournament, led by Illinois-Springfield who is the only team to clinch a first-round home game. Lewis, Indianapolis, McKendree and Maryville are currently seeded #2-#5 with each team winning at least six conference games.
WHO'S OUT?... Four teams are officially eliminated from the tournament. Missouri S&T, Southwest Baptist, William Jewell and Missouri-St. Louis are currently seeded #11-#14 and will be unable to finish in the top eight. Missouri S&T could potentially win-out and be tied for 8th place, but they would lose their head-to-head tiebreaker as they lost to Rockhurst and Quincy earlier this season.
WHO'S LEFT?... This leaves five teams who are competing for the final three spots in the GLVC Tournament. Truman State is currently the #6 seed with a total of 18 points (teams are given three points for a win and one point for a tie), and will clinch a postseason berth with just one win in their final two games. The next four teams are just two points a part from each other as Drury has 15 points, Quincy and Rockhurst are tied with 14 points and Upper Iowa has 13 points. Drury's final two games will be on the road as they go up against dead-last Missouri-St. Louis before playing 4th place McKendree in their season finale. Quincy has without a doubt, the toughest remaining schedule as they will be facing 2nd place Lewis and 3rd place Indianapolis on the road. Rockhurst has only one game remaining, which will be at home against winless William Jewell.
PEACOCKS PATH TO THE PLAYOFFS… There are a variety of ways the Peacocks can clinch a spot in the GLVC Tournament.
If they tie in both their games, UIU will need two of these to happen:
- Drury loses out
- Quincy has one tie and one loss or loses out
- Rockhurst loses to William Jewell
With one win and one loss, UIU will need two of these to happen:
- Drury to lose out or have one tie and one loss
- Quincy to be winless in both games
- Rockhurst to tie or lose to William Jewell
With one win and one tie, UIU will need two of these to happen:
- Drury to be winless in both games
- Quincy to lose one of their two games or be winless in both games
- Rockhurst to tie or lose to William Jewell
With two wins, UIU will need one of these to happen:
- Truman State loses out
- Drury doesn't win out
- Quincy doesn't win out
If the Peacocks are tied with another team, there are three tiebreakers to determine who advances:
- Head-to-Head Record
- Goal Difference
- Who has scored more goals (UIU has the most in the GLVC)
Here's how the Peacocks would fare if they had the exact same record as these teams:
- Lose tiebreaker to Truman State on head-to-head record
- Win tiebreaker over Drury on goal difference
- Win tiebreaker over Quincy on head-to-head record
- Lose tiebreaker over Rockhurst on head-to-head record
MATCHUP WITH MISSOURI S&T… The Miners have gone 3-9-3 with a 2-7-2 conference record, meaning they are officially eliminated from the GLVC Tournament. Senior goalkeeper Joseph Davis has started 14 games this season, recording 45 saves while allowing 25 goals. Davis has four shutouts on the season with a season-high eight saves which came in the season-opener over Rogers State. Freshman forward Mike Banasik has scored over 1/3 of the Miners goals this season, as his five goals are the third most in the GLVC. Graduate midfielder Sigurd Semlitsch has accounted for nearly half of the Miners assists with four while starting in 12 games. Graduate defender Robert Sullentrop has started every game of the season, recording an assist against Missouri-St. Louis.
MIGHTY MARYVILLE… The Saints have had a great season, going 9-2-4 with a 6-2-3 conference record while being undefeated at home. Junior goalkeeper Nick Hemann has started 13 games, recording 26 saves and allowing nine goals. He has allowed an average of .75 goals per game which is the 5th best ratio in the GLVC. Backing him up is sophomore goalkeeper Simon Madsen who has started the past two games for Maryville, recording four saves while not allowing any goals. Senior midfielder Tim Smith has made a great case for GLVC player of the year, scoring five goals while recording six assists. His 16 points are the second-most in the conference, only trailing Peacocks sophomore midfielder
Mateo Rodriguez. Junior midfielder Mason Crew and graduate midfielder Kelvin Mulinya have each scored four goals of their own, with Crew dishing out two assists on the season. These three players all rank in the top-10 for goals scored in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Luca Bartoni and senior forward Bryce Glisson have two goals each, while Bartoni has recorded three assists with Glisson adding two assists of his own. Senior defender Marcus Kalebo leads Maryville in minutes with 1,131 while assisting on three goals.
