This week's Yoga Genesis Peacocks of the Week are RJ Knaack of the football team and Jamie Kerkvliet from the women's soccer team. Knaack led the UIU defense in their heartbreaking loss at home (24-21), while Kerkvliet kept a clean sheet during her 135 minutes in goal while Upper Iowa posted a win and a tie on the road last weekend.

Knaack recorded 10 tackles including nine solo stops and two for loss with a sack in UIU's home-opening loss to Minnesota State University Moorhead, 24-21. The Peacock defense allowed just 88 yards rushing behind the play of Knaack and his fellow defenders. Cejai Parrish added seven tackles with one for loss and Baxter Bohr secured six stops with a sack. Offensively, Marcus Orr threw for 217 yards and two scores with Cole Ewald pulling down seven catches for 98 yards. On the ground, Desean Phillips gained 74 yards and scored once, while Willy Camacho added 86 yards between 14 rushes and 4 catches. UIU football is on the road this Saturday at the University of Minnesota Duluth; kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Kerkvliet was credited with five saves during last weekend's play at Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls. The freshman keeper earned NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after posting a shutout in the team's 1-0 win over SMSU and shared a shutout with Alena Miller in a 0-0 tie with USF. The defensive line in front of Kerkvliet played strong as well led by Leah Willenbring and Chloe Jarosz, who grabbed the assist on Jordan Zarate's game-winning goal against the Mustangs. The women's soccer team is 2-2-1 on the year and 1-0-1 in the conference and is on the road again this weekend with matches at the Minnesota Duluth on Friday and St. Cloud State University on Sunday.
