INDIANAPOLIS - Arnas Kurakinas and Rhea Buchanan were named the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award recipients for Upper Iowa, as announced by the GLVC (Great Lakes Valley Conference) on Tuesday.
The GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees are student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing while also demonstrating good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Both honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
Kurakinas played in all 17 men's soccer matches with 14 starts. He totaled three assists this season while playing 1,323 minutes.
Buchanan played in 15 games for Upper Iowa with 14 starts. She totaled two goals on seven shots in 1,244 minutes.
