The No. 15 Peacock wrestling team secured their first Northern Sun Conference win of the season at home on Saturday afternoon. Upper Iowa handled Minnesota State University Moorhead by a 34-9 score thanks to wins in seven of the 10 matches. Six bonus-point wins paced the Peacocks and improved their record to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC. MSUM dropped to 0-8 on the year and 0-7 in the NSIC.
 
Upper Iowa posted a 27-6 advantage in takedowns in the dual. The huge advantage came through in their six bonus-point wins as the home team recorded two falls, three tech falls and a major decision.
 
MSU Moorhead won decisions at 125, 133 and 285 pounds, but in between were seven dominating performances by the Peacocks.
 
Eric Faught (No. 10) got an early takedown in his 149-pound match, got a turn and then settled in to grab a win by fall (1:30). Bodie Garnier was leading 6-4 in the 197-pound match when he scored a reversal and finished the match with a fall (4:24).
 
The three tech falls came at 141, 165, and 184 pounds. Tate Murty (No. 7) controlled the 141-pound bout to earn a 16-1 win fueled by three takedowns, a reversal, and a four-point nearfall. Ryan Steffen posted a 16-0 shutout for a tech fall win at 165 pounds thanks to three takedowns and a pair of four-point nearfalls. Myron Crawford dominated his match at 184 pounds scoring a total of 12 takedowns to go with one escape as he posted a 25-10 tech fall victory.
 
The final Peacock win that came with bonus points was delivered at 174 pounds. Colter Bye notched a 9-0 major decision that was highlighted by a takedown and two reversals.
 
Chase Luensman (No. 7) nearly pushed all seven of UIU's wins into the bonus-point category, but settled for a 10-3 decision at 157 pounds. Luensman grabbed four takedowns on the way to his seven-point win.
 
The Peacocks will get back on the mat next Thursday night, Feb. 10 at home in Fayette. Upper Iowa will host the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato at 7:00 p.m. in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium.
