THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK MEN'S SOCCER… Upper Iowa men's soccer hits the road for the weekend to take on two more GLIAC competitors. They begin their road trip at Davenport University on Friday, Oct. 7 at 12:30 p.m. CST. Their second contest of the weekend will be played at Purdue University Northwest on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. CST.

PEACOCK HUE REVIEW … The Peacocks are currently 1-9 (0-6 GLIAC) on the season so far. Their only match last week was against St. Cloud State resulted in a 2-0 loss. The contest remained 0-0 until the 63rd minute when the Huskies sank one in the upper right corner of the net. They found their groove once again just 14 minutes later as they scored their second goal of the afternoon at the 77:19 mark. Several scoring opportunities were presented for the Peacocks in transition, but they were unable to execute. They trailed St. Cloud in shot attempts 20-10. Goalkeeper
Archie Watts pulled down a total of eight saves in the contest.
PREPPING FOR THE PANTHERS… The Panthers hold a 4-5-1 (3-2-1 GLIAC) record on the year so far. The GLIAC has highlighted several of their players in the last several weeks. Most recently, George Deveau was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. He scored the game winning goal against Purdue Northwest. Last week, Matt Whelan earned this same recognition. Whelan tied for second in goals scored in the conference with 6. Davenport's goalkeeper, Shane Marinkovich, leads the conference in saves with 33. The Panthers are sitting at third place in the GLIAC and are currently on a three game winning streak. They recently faced St. Cloud State (4-0), Upper Iowa (3-2) and Purdue Northwest (2-1). They have scored a total of nine goals in these last three matches and only allowed three.
In their last meeting against Upper Iowa, Davenport sealed a 3-2 victory. The Panthers scored two goals in the first half of the match. The Peacocks came to life in the second segment, netting two goals. Both were scored by sophomore
Carson Cajuste. The score remained 2-2 until the last minute of the match when Davenport secured the 3-2 victory with one final goal.
PREPPING FOR THE PRIDE… After passing the midpoint of the seaosn, the Pride are 4-4-2 (4-2 GLIAC) so far. Purdue Northwest currently sits as third place in the GLIAC. In their most recent match, they were defeated by Davenport University 2-1, breaking their winning streak of four consecutive victories. In their last three competitions, the Pride have scored a total of six goals and allowed three. Prior to coming up short against the Panthers, Purdue Northwest shutout Upper Iowa 3-0 and conquered St. Cloud State 2-1. The Pride are led in scoring by Ryan Moran who has netted three goals this season. Moran has also tallied three assists, recording a total of nine points.
In their last meeting against Upper Iowa, Purdue Northwest ignited a spark at the 12:45 mark, capitalizing on a foul in the box committed by Upper Iowa. Moran stepped up and executed the penalty. The Pride carried momentum from their penalty and scored just seven minutes later. The score remained 2-0 until the 62nd minute when Purdue Northwest scored their third and final goal of the match.The Peacocks outshot the Pride 10-7, a season first for Upper Iowa.
TAILORED TIMELINE… The following weekend, Upper Iowa will host two home matches. Their home stand begins with a non-conference challenge against Truman State on Friday, Oct. 14. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. The Peacocks will then face GLIAC opponent Saginaw Valley State for their second contest of the weekend. Kick off is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.
