The Peacock women and men's indoor track and field teams completed their events at the Spartan Invitational hosted by the University of Dubuque on Saturday. The Peacock women's team placed fourth in an eight-team field with 47 points across 10 events with 14 individuals, while the men placed sixth in the eight-team field with 23 points amid 10 events with 14 individuals.
Zakaria Fuller and
Maddie Stevens had big days for the women's team combining for 23 points in their individual events and then pairing up with
Nailea Espinoza and
Brianna Crouch in the 4x400 meter relay (4:15.39) to earn six more points. Fuller took second in the 400m race in a time of 1:04.15 and fifth in the 200m race in a time of 26.91 seconds. Stevens grabbed fourth in the 60m dash (8.02 seconds) and then set a new program record in the 200m race to place third in a time of 25.85 seconds. Espinoza placed third in the 60m dash in a time of 7.99 seconds. Genevieve Chenowith placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.60 meters, while
Jade Martin placed sixth in the 400m race (1:07.03) and Crouch placed eighth in the 3K race (11:59.48).

The men's team scored 15 of their total 23 points in the triple jump where
Jaylen Hobson claimed the event title with a leap of 13.92 meters and
Kai Bateman placed fourth after a jump of 13.18 meters. The final eight points for the men's squad came in the 1000m race where
Nathan Goranson claimed 3
rd in a time of 2:39.22.
Upper Iowa will take a short trip north to Decorah, Iowa next Saturday, Feb. 5. The Peacocks will compete in the Luther Invitational hosted by Luther College.
