Upper Iowa wrestled on Saturday in the Auggie Open hosted by Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minn. The Peacocks brought 24 to the tournament with 14 competing in the Gold brackets and 10 (most unattached) wrestling in the Freshman brackets.
 
The Peacocks won 70 of their 101 matches on the day including 15 falls, two tech falls and nine major decisions. UIU had 17 of their 24 wrestlers claim sixth place or better including 10 placers in the Gold brackets and seven in the Freshmen brackets. Five Peacocks won their respective weight classes, while four more UIU athletes placed second.
 
Eric Faught (149) and Connor Manderfeld (141) each went undefeated and won their weight classes. Faught dominated his matches on the day opening with two majors (17-5 and 14-3) to reach the semifinals. Faught got his title bout after a win by fall (4:11) over Charlie Stuhl of Augsburg. Faught scored a 9-4 win to claim first place over Brock Parker of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Manderfeld was 3-0 posting wins of 8-3 and 9-2 in the semis and title matches over Brady Gross of Augsburg and Jacob Prunty of Concordia College, respectively.
 
Ethen Doty (unattached) scored a 4-0 record with three falls including two first-period pins to win the Freshmen 141-pound bracket, while John Ebaugh claimed the 149-pound Freshmen bracket title with a 5-0 record with one first-period fall. Ebaugh's championship victory came in a high-scoring 13-12 match against David Platt of Concordia. Cael Meyer (unattached) claimed the third title in the Freshman brackets at 174 pounds. Meyer posted a 4-0 record with three falls. In total, Meyer was on the mat for just over five and a half minutes to secure his title.
 
Kaden Anderlik (133) claimed second with a 3-1 record with two falls, and Chase Luensman (157) grabbed second with a 3-1 record with a tech fall.
 
In the Freshmen brackets, Averee Abben (unattached) placed second at 125 pounds with a 3-1 mark including a fall and a tech fall and Brody Gregory saw his first action of the season and claimed second place in the 285-pound bracket with a 2-1 record and win by fall in the semis.
 
Donny Schmit (133), Ryan Steffen (157) and Scott Kellenberger all recorded four wins in five matches. Schmit scored a pair of falls and a major. Steffen secured a pair of majors, while Kellenberger earned one major; all three placed fifth.
 
Chance Throndson (157) and Jordan Baumler (285) both earned two wins and placed fourth.
 
Kain Luensman (unattached, 149) and Jackson Rolfs (unattached, 157) both placed third in the Freshmen brackets with one loss on their day.
 
Upper Iowa will stay off the competition mats for the rest of November. The No. 9 Peacocks will open their Northern Sun Conference schedule on Friday, Dec. 3 at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D.
