Nichole DePaul has earned the commitment of a women's bowler. Michaela Morgan, who is in the middle of her senior year at Oak Ridge High School, will continue her academic and athletic careers at Upper Iowa.

The product of The Woodlands, Texas led her team into the Texas State Tournament in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and earned a spot as an individual at the Texas State Tournament in 2020. Morgan has also been named to the all-district team in 2018 and 2019. A hard worker in the classroom, she is a mainstay on the Oak Ridge Honor Roll claiming a spot on the list in each of the last four years. Michaela is the daughter of Dena Morgan and Blake VanPelt and will study environmental science at UIU.

"Michaela is an excellent addition to our strong women's team," said Depaul. "As the first female, two-handed player for our team, Michaela will bring depth and versatility needed for NCAA competitions. Having a female two-handed player will open up more doors for the future of the women's team."

The Peacock women's bowling team opened their 2020-21 season at the Bearcat Hammer Classic in Fairview Heights, Ill. in late October, but the pandemic scratched the other two tournaments from the fall schedule. Upper Iowa will look to get back on the lanes in January. The Peacocks have their first competition set for Jan. 22-24 at the Columbia 200 Saints Invitational in Missouri.
