On Friday, the National Tenpin Coaches Association unveiled their regular season poll for women's bowling. The NTCA releases two polls, one of which includes teams from all three divisions and one that exclusively includes teams that compete in NCAA Division II/III.
Â
For the second time this season, the Upper Iowa women's bowling team are receiving votes in the NTCA DII/DIII poll. The Peacocks began the year by receiving votes in the preseason poll back in October. UIU also check in at #40 in this week's NTCA overall regular season poll.
Â
This season, the Peacocks have competed in five events, most recently taking ninth place at the Columbia 300 Saints Invitational. Last month, the team put together their highest finish at an event in program history when they took third place as the host of the Peacock Classic. UIU began the competition by knocking off #13 Newman University thanks to a program record for pins in a single match at 1,079.
Â
"This is an exciting time for our women at UIU," said Head Coach Nichole DePaul. "Receiving votes again in the regular season poll from multiple coaches across the divisions shows we are making a name for ourselves. We are preparing to win more matches in order to have an opportunity to earn a championship title."
Â
At this time, the Peacocks are next scheduled to compete at the Hawk Classic, hosted by Quincy University, beginning on February 24.
