The Northern Sun Conference handed out their weekly wrestling award and Upper Iowa's Maleek Williams is the NSIC Wrestler of the Week. The award is Upper Iowa's ninth NSIC Player of the Week honor this year.

The redshirt senior closed out his final regular season in style with a pair of big wins at home. Williams is 19-9 on the year with 17 of those victories coming with bonus points thanks to 8 falls, 2 tech falls and 7 major decisions.

Williams led the Peacocks over the weekend with a 2-0 record in UIU's duals with No. 1 St. Cloud State University and No. 25 Northern State University. On Thursday, Williams posted UIU's lone win against the top-rated Huskies; the Peacock 125-pounder earned a 14-6 major decision over Brett Velasquez (No. 2). In his final match in Dorman Gym, Williams secured six points for the Peacocks with a win by fall over Dayne Morton of Northern State (6:51). 

Upper Iowa will use the next week and a half to prepare for the NCAA Regional in Moorhead, Minn. UIU will join the rest of the Northern Sun Conference along with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Alex Nemzek Hall on the campus of Minnesota State University Moorhead on Feb. 23.
