Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Peacock baseball team lit up the scoreboard in game one on Saturday, but the University of Minnesota Crookston scored four runs in the final frame of game two to rally and earn a split. Upper Iowa claimed game one 14-6, but UM Crookston took game two by a 4-2 count. After the split, the Peacocks are now 11-16 overall and 9-12 in the NSIC, while UMC is 17-22 overall and 3-17 in the conference.
 
The two teams will get back together on the UMC Baseball Field in Crookston, Minn. on Sunday afternoon.
 
Game One: Upper Iowa 14 - UM Crookston 6
The Peacocks erupted for 13 runs in the first two innings of game one and cruised to their eight-run win.  Conner Klostermann had the big hit of the first inning with a grand slam home run to left. Prior to the grand slam, Tony Salato walked with the bases loaded to give UIU the first run of the game.
 
In the second inning, the Peacocks sent 12 batters to the plate and 8 runs on just 5 hits and a pair of Golden Eagle errors. Salato and Callahan Seehase drove in a base runner with singles, while Riley Braughton doubled in a pair of runs and Emmett Kulick homered to left.
 
In between the big innings, the Golden Eagles scored a pair of runs on four hits. The home team added two more runs in the third inning, but UIU answered with their final run of the game on a passed ball. The final runs of the game came for UMC with a pair in the sixth inning.
 
Ryan Munoz (3-1) threw five innings allowing four runs on six hits while striking out four batters to pick up the win. Clayton Lieb allowed two runs in his inning of relief and Casey Zarr threw a scoreless inning.
 
Seehase tallied three hits in the game, while Zak Cain added a pair of hits.
 
Game Two: UMC 4 - UIU 2
Upper Iowa got on the board with a run in the second inning. Salato doubled down the right field line with one out and then scored when Klostermann singled down the same foul line to push Salato home. UIU went looking for more loading the bases with just one out, but a foul out and an infield fly ended the threat.
 
The Peacocks pushed their lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning. Kulick opened the frame with a double to left and later moved to third with two outs. A wild pitch that got away from the UMC catcher allowed UIU to score the second run.
 
UIU's starter Kolton Gonnerman was electric for the Peacocks through the first eight innings as he scattered four hits by the Golden Eagles. But in the ninth, the home team found their confidence and rallied for the win. A solo homerun by Reed Hjelle to open the ninth inning cut the lead in half. Later in the inning, the Golden Eagles had  runners on second and third with two outs. Hunter Baldwin came off the bench and delivered his team the victory with a three-run homer off reliever Tyus Adkins.

Gonnerman struck out 13 batters while suffering the no-decision. Adkins fell to 1-1 with the loss in relief.
