The Upper Iowa baseball team got back on the diamond after nearly two weeks off due to weather. Winona State claimed a pair of wins 13-2 and 7-1 over the Peacocks after limiting the visitor's bats to just 11 hits in the two games. UIU fell to 8-13 overall and 6-9 in the Northern Sun, while WSU improved to 12-13 overall and 11-7 in the conference.

In game one, the Peacocks held a pair of slim leads at 1-0 and 2-1, but the Warriors scored 3 runs in the fourth, 8 runs in the fifth and a final run in the sixth to secure their 13-2 win. Winona State held a 15-5 advantage in hits in the game.
UIU scored an early run in game two jumping out to a 1-0 lead, but Winona State quickly answered in the bottom of the first and then took the lead in the second. After two hits in the first inning, the Peacocks only tallied four hits over the final eight innings. The Warrior bats added a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings and one more run in the sixth to win 7-1.
Colin Lacey (2-2) and
Brett Fanning (1-2) both suffered losses for Upper Iowa. Lacey allowed eight runs (seven earned) over his four innings and Fanning gave up six runs (five earned) over his five innings of work.
Upper Iowa will take on Sioux Falls on Friday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Plattsmouth, Neb.
