After a disappointing final game at Pattison Field, the Peacocks will close out their season on the road with a pair of games against Northeastern State and Southwest Baptist. The Peacocks will take on #18 Northeastern State on Friday at 5pm before squaring off against Southwest Baptist for the season finale on Sunday at 2pm.
Upper Iowa wrapped up their final home game last Sunday in a tough 1-0 loss to the University of Mary. The game got off to a shaky start as UMary was able to sneak one past the Peacocks off a set piece early in the first half. The Peacock offense was led by senior
Joaquin Alonso and sophomore
Italo Martins Soares who each had two shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Upper Iowa goalkeeper
Bradley Kaufer earned his first home start and recorded three saves in the final home game of 2018.
The Peacocks have struggled in games away from Pattison field, going 1-4-2 in road games this year. On the road, the Peacocks have only been able to score five goals while they have conceded 13.
Nikolai Gogol has helped keep the games close for the Peacocks, recording 46 saves over his six games on the road and keeping two clean sheets.
As of late, Upper Iowa's offense hasn't been able to find the big performance that they've been looking for. Over the past six games, the Peacocks have been held to one goal or less and have only had ten or more shots in two of those games. However, Upper Iowa's two best offensive performances this year came against Northeastern State where they scored twice and took 16 shots and Southwest Baptist where they scored a season high four goals on 14 shots.
