Peacock men's basketball senior
Carson Parker has been selected to compete with the USA D2 Men's Basketball Team during the month of August for the Brazil Tour. Ron Smith, Director of USA Sports Tours & Events, announced the rosters and coaches for the men's and women's teams, which are made up of NCAA Division II basketball players from all regions of the United States.
"This is an outstanding group of basketball players that come from 13 different state, 3 countries and 13 different colleges and universities from across the United States. We feel that we have some of the BEST of the BEST representing NCAA Division II basketball from across the country. These players have been high achievers both on the court and in the classroom. They represent everything good that the NCAA Division II institutions have to offer. "
Parker was named to the All-NSIC first team as a junior after playing in all 33 games, starting all but one and averaging 30.4 minutes per contest. The Peacock point guard averaged 11.9 points per game on 49.8% shooting from the field and 39.2% shooting from distance. He was also named to the NSIC All-Tournament team with teammates
Jordan Hay and
Luke Lenhart. Parker added 129 assists, third best in the league, and 36 steals. His career-high in points came at Winona State University this past December when he netted 33 points. Parker has 933 career points heading into his senior campaign with Upper Iowa.
The USA D-2 Men's & Women's Basketball Teams began their Brazil Tour 2017 in Orlando, Florida on July 31st. The tour runs from July 31-August 9. After team orientation in Orlando, the team departed for Sao Paulo, Brazil. The team will depart Brazil on the evening of August 8th and return to the USA on the 9th.
While in Brazil the teams will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits. While in Rio the team will be staying on the famous Copacabana Beach and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
