THIS WEEKEND IN MEN'S BASKETBALL The Peacocks (14-13, 10-8 NSIC) look to carry the momentum from last weekend's sweep into the final stretch of the season as UIU hosts its last home weekend of the year. The Peacocks will play Concordia-St. Paul on Friday at 8 p.m., followed by senior night against Minnesota State on Saturday at 6 p.m.
NOTES FROM LAST WEEKEND Upper Iowa battled to a hard fought 90-88 win over the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on Friday night in Dorman Gym. In a game that saw 60 fouls and 72 free throws, UIU rallied from a five-point halftime deficit and knocked down some clutch free throws in the closing moments to pull off the victory. On Saturday night, UIU exploded for 62 second half points on their way to a 104-85 win over the St. Cloud State Huskies. UIU had eight different players knock down a 3-pointer in the game, on their way to 16 trifectas and the Peacocks hit the century mark for the first time in Dorman Gym this season.
KEY NOTES TO CONSIDER 1 A CENTURY IN THE MAKING: Upper Iowa enters its 100th year of men's basketball with the start of the 2015-16 season and third year under the tutelage of
Brooks McKowen. The Fairbank, Iowa native was named the 18th head coach in Peacock men's basketball history prior to the 2013-14 season and holds a 47-40 record at UIU.
2 1,000 POINT CLUB WATCH: The Peacocks have a pair of juniors knocking at the door of the 1,000 point club.
Josh Weeber is just 57 points away from hitting 1,000, while
Jimmy Roth is exactly 65 points away.
3 FEBRUARY FUN: Under
Brooks McKowen, the Peacocks have a 13-4 mark in the month of February, including an 8-2 mark in Dorman Gymnasium.
4 SENIOR SENDOFF: Three Peacocks,
Jernell Hughes,
Jarrod Gamble and
Turner Wentzien, will play their final regular season game in Dorman Gymnasium this weekend. The trio has combined for 136 games played, 755 points, 263 rebounds and 119 assists.

THE SERIES vs CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL: (11-13) - Upper Iowa pulled the all-time series within two games with a 103-80 win back in December. It marked UIU's third straight victory over the Golden Bears.
vs MINNESOTA STATE: (1-19) - The Peacocks lone win in the series came in 2012 when Jake Hughes hit a game-winner with 0.4 seconds left and gave UIU a 61-60 victory over the then-No. 20 Mavericks
ABOUT THE OPPONENT CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL: (9-15, 6-12 NSIC) - CSP snapped an 8-game road losing streak and won its first league road game on Saturday, 76-72 at U-Mary after an 81-67 loss at Minot State on Friday. Cole Olstad, who leads the Golden Bears in scoring this season at 14.8 point per game, is a point shy of reaching the 1,400 point plateau in his career.
MINNESOTA STATE: (17-7, 12-6 NSIC) - Minnesota State picked up a pair of road wins against U-Mary (76-71) and Minot State (73-63) last week. Jalen Pendleton averaged 21.5 points and six rebounds per game last weekend, while Jon Fuqua recorded double-doubles against both U-Mary (21pts/12reb) and Minto State (13pts/11reb) and has now tallied a double-double in four of MSU's last five games.
