THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK MEN'S BASKETBALL…
The Peacocks (3-3) will return home to Dorman Gymnasium to open up their Northern Sun Conference schedule. First up is the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs on Friday night in Fayette at 8 p.m., and then UIU will host the Sioux Falls Cougars on Saturday at 6 p.m. Friday's game against SMSU will be Denim Night for fans attending the game, and the next night against USF will be Ugly Sweater Saturday in the stands.

I'M LOVIN' IT: Upper Iowa began their first winning streak of the season  last weekend after winning the SJC Thanksgiving Classic Presented by McDonald's. The Peacocks rallied with a 15-4 run over the final five minutes of the game to defeat Grand Valley State 76-72 on Friday night, and then upended the host St. Joseph's on Saturday to win the tournament, 91-76.Â
NOT JOSHING AROUND: Senior
Josh Weeber was the go-to guy last weekend in Rennselaer, Ind. The Dubuque, Iowa native led the team in points with 15.5 per game including 20 against Grand Valley State and knocked down 8 triples in 11 attempts. The forward has now scored in double figures in three straight games.
HALFWAY HOME: Â Halftime is a key stat for the Peacocks so far this season. UIU is 2-0 when tied or leading after 20 minutes, and 1-3 when trailing at the intermission.
MCKOWEN'S MILESTONE... Friday's game against Southwest Minnesota State will mark the 100th game at Upper Iowa for Head Coach
Brooks McKowen. The Fairbank, Iowa native was hired back in 2013 and is in his fourth season at UIU. McKowen owns a 52-47 record as the Peacock head man.
THE SERIES…
vs SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE: The Mustangs own the all-time series 16-6, but the Peacocks have won three of the last four including an 81-69 win in Marshall, Minn. last season.Â
vs SIOUX FALLS: The Peacocks are 8-3 against the Cougars after splitting their two matchups a season ago. In the brief NSIC series between the two teams (since 2012), UIU holds the upper hand, 5-3.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS…
SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE: The Mustangs opened NSIC play on Tuesday night with a 74-72 win over Sioux Falls in Marshall, Minn to remain undefeated at 6-0 and 1-0 in league play. Ryan Bruggeman led SMSU with a team-high 15 points, while Carter Kirk record his second double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
SIOUX FALLS: The Cougars (3-5, 0-1 NSIC) dropped to SMSU despite 26 points from Drew Guebert. USF has been a bit snake-bit this season with the four of the five losses coming by combined 10 points. The Cougars, which led by eight in the second half, had a chance at the win in the final seconds, but Mack Johnson's three was off line as the buzzer sounded.
