THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK VOLLEYBALL... Upper Iowa (6-3) will open their 2015 run into the Northern Sun Conference on Thursday night against the #3 Concordia University, St. Paul Golden Bears on the road before coming home to Fayette for a Saturday afternoon match at 3 p.m. against the Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks. Upper Iowa is coming off a week of five matches in which they posted a 3-2 record with wins over Waldorf College, Minot State University and St. Cloud State University. The Peacocks were picked twelfth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE #3 GOLDEN BEARS... In 2014, the Golden Bears weren't the final team standing at the NCAA National Championships for the first time in the last eight years after claiming the top title from 2007-13. Concordia was picked as the NSIC preseason favorite to win the conference title this year and is off to a 5-2 start. The two losses have come to #15 Palm Beach Atlantic and #13 Ferris State; both matches went down to a fifth set. The Golden Bears do boast a 3-0 win over #1 Tampa, the defending NCAA Division II National Champion.
PUTTING THE MAVERICKS UNDER THE MAGNIFYING GLASS... Minnesota State enters the weekend with a 6-2 record thanks to a perfect weekend at an opening tournament at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. The Mavericks took their 4-0 record to the Flyer Festival hosted by Lewis University and split four matches with losses to Maryville University and Lewis University. Minnesota State was selected eighth in the conference's preseason poll.

MINNESOTA STATE - Krista Hassing (MB, 6-0, Junior, Blue Earth, Minn.) led MSU with 68 kills; 4.86 k/s; her kps led the NSIC for the week
- Hassing tied her career-high 23 kills on Friday against Malone
