INDIANAPOLIS - Lydia Imbrogno was named the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award recipient for Upper Iowa Volleyball, as announced by the GLVC (Great Lakes Valley Conference) on Tuesday.
The GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees are student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing while also demonstrating good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Imbrogno is now eligible to become one of UIU's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
Imbrogno appeared in all 26 matches for the Peacocks this season, starting 23 of them. The Readlyn native tallied 153 kills, 229 digs, 31 service aces and 21 blocks in her senior season. Imbrogno's 31 aces were a team-best, headlined by a career-high six aces in her final match inside Dorman Gym against Southwest Baptist on Nov. 1.
