Upper Iowa men's basketball started the second half on a 15-0 run on its way to a 93-81 victory over Quincy on Wednesday night.
Â
The Peacocks trailed for all but about a minute of game time in the first half, but took the 45-44 lead on sophomore
Carson Parker's layup with 34 seconds to go in the first half. UIU then came out blazing in the second half and knocked down its first five shots from the field to jump out to a 60-44 lead in just over three minutes.
Â
The win marks the third straight for the Peacocks (3-3) and brings UIU to .500 after they started the season with three consecutive losses at the CCA Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, California. The loss for Quincy drops the Hawks to 0-3.

Junior
Luke Lenhart led Upper Iowa with 17 points and was one of five Peacocks in double figures. Junior
Josh Weeber (13) had his sixth straight game to start the year with 12 or more points, while junior
Jimmy Roth added 11 points on 4-5 shooting. Parker (16) and freshman
Ethan Steinbronn set new career-highs in the game, while Parker also led UIU with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
Â
As a team, the Peacocks shot a red-hot 55.7% (34-61) from the floor, including nearly 66% (24-41) from inside the arc. The biggest difference in the game was UIU's ability to get to the free throw line, where the Peacocks were 18-25 (72%), but 9-10 in the second half. The Hawks shot just 3-7 from the charity stripe for the game.
Â
Upper Iowa's first lead of the game came at the 17:25 mark in the first half when they led 6-5. For the next 17 minutes, UIU would trail until a Parker layup put the Peacocks ahead by one at halftime, 45-44. A 15-0 to start the second half put the Peacocks comfortably ahead early in the second half and the Upper Iowa lead would reach as high as 17 multiple times. Quincy got as close as 8, 77-69, with a little more than 5 minutes left but UIU was able to ice the game late with clutch free throw shooting.
Â
Upper Iowa will return to Fayette for their home opener against Truman State on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. The game will be a White Out and all fans are encouraged to support the Peacocks by wearing white.
