THIS WEEKEND IN MEN'S BASKETBALL... After earning an opening-round win in the NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament, the Peacocks will make their second consecutive appearance in the quarterfinals in as many years. UIU will take on the No. 1 seed in the NSIC-North, the Dragons of MSU Moorhead (20-7), on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. This is the first year all of the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship games will be played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota inside the Pentagon. UIU, which has won eight of its last nine matchups, will enter the game riding a three-game win streak. Meanwhile, MSUM has won four straight.

THE SERIES... When these teams last met, the Dragons held a perfect 9-0 record in Moorhead, Minnesota. UIU snapped that streak thanks to Woods' phenomenal 40-point performance as the Peacocks earned the 109-107 overtime victory. Overall, these two teams have met 15 times over the past ten seasons. With that victory away from home on Jan. 31, the Peacocks took an 8-7 lead in the overall series. Although Saturday's quarterfinals series will be played at a neutral site, the home team in this series has won four of the last six games. UIU has never played in the Pentagon.

PEACOCK POSTSEASON HARDWARE... Following the 2013-14 regular season, redshirt-senior
Joey Woods was named an All-NSIC First Team selection. Woods earned his spot on the list after his most impressive statistical season as a Peacock in which he led the team in scoring and passing throughout the regular season. In 21 NSIC games, Woods set a new career-high and the highest mark for any Upper Iowa player since UIU made the transition to Division II play in 2006 by scoring 40 points against MSU Moorhead on Jan. 31st of this year. Woods finished the regular season ranked fifth in the NSIC in scoring at 18.3 points per game, while ranking second in assists per game with 4.9.
Â
HERE WE "ROW"... Freshman guard Jimmy Rowth (Row-th) showed a lot of guts in the Peacocks' win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday Brooks McKowen said after the game. Roth scored 14 of his career-high 21 points in the second half as UIU erased a 22-point deficit to defeat the Bulldogs, 86-81.
Â
A BREATH OF FRESH "KIERRE"... Coming off the bench in Wednesday's matchup with UMD,
Kierre Ogbonna provided a spark for UIU with a renewed sense of energy. The junior post scored 4 points, snagged 7 rebounds and blocked 2 shots in 17 minutes of action.
