The Peacocks will take on Minnesota State in a non-conference match and then return to Fayette for some home-cooking with matches against Minot State and U-Mary on Friday and Saturday.

This Week in Peacock Volleyball… Upper Iowa (6-17, 2-12 NSIC) is on the hook for another three matches this week as they look to break a ten-game slide that started at home in a five-set loss to Bemidji State. The Peacocks will travel to Mankato, Minn. to face the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato in a non-conference affair on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. UIU will then return home for a pair of Northern Sun Conference matches against Minot State University and the University of Mary. Tuesday's match with the Mavericks is a rematch of the Sept. 21 contest in Fayette that saw the visitors rally from a 2-1 deficit to beat the Peacocks in five sets. Minot State enters the week having won three of their last four matches, while U-Mary has lost four straight and 13 of their last 14 contests.

Youth be Served… The Peacocks are playing with youth this season as five freshman and a pair of sophomores have made up the bulk of their regular lineup as of late. Jennifer Mundt and Taylor Williams are in their second year with the program, while freshmen Alisha VanderWoude, Chlesea Berry, Kelsey Hinrichs, Katie Chatten and Miranda LeJeune have all been putting together major minutes on the court. Amanda Weiss and Hailey Brown are the only two starters that are not in their first two years with the program.

"Weiss" Investment… Junior Amanda Weiss has been solid in her libero role this season for the Peacocks. The West Bend, Wis. native is ranked 9th in the NSIC in digs/set at 4.06. She has reached the 20-dig plateau six times this season with her high coming at 23 against both St. Joseph's and Indianapolis.

Last Week for the Mavericks... The Minnesota State volleyball team split this past weekend as it downed the University of Mary, 3-1 before falling to Minot State in three sets falling to 9-12 overall with a 5-9 mark in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Mavericks were led by freshman Sydney Geisness, who recorded 22 kills, while hitting .417. The Maverick offense was paced by freshman Sydney Geisness, who recorded 14 kills in 21 attempts in the Mavericks 3-1 win over the University of Mary. In the weekend's opening match the freshman outside hitting posted a .476 attacking percentage. Geisness followed that performance up with an eight kill effort at Minot state. On the weekend she recorded 22 kills (3.14 per set), while hitting .417. Ellie Van De Steeg recorded 88 assists in seven sets (12.57 per set) as the Mavericks split this past weekend, downing the University of Mary 3-1 before falling to Minot State 3-0. Van De Steeg also tallied five kills, 13 digs and four blocks.

Last Week for the Beavers... Jen Dixon had another solid week, pacing Minot State University with 41 kills to help the Beavers to a 2-1 week in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. She hit for 14 kills apiece as Minot State took a set from No. 1 ranked Concordia-St. Paul Friday in a 3-1 loss and a 3-0 sweep of Minnesota State. On Tuesday, she paced the Beavers with 11 kills in a 3-0 road sweep of rival University of Mary. Dixon averaged 4.10 kills per set and hit .284 overall. She also had six service aces and two assists. On defense, Dixon finished with 31 digs and three block assists. Emily Byrne edged closer to 3,000 career assists as she finished with 117 to help Minot State University go 2-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on the week. She has 2,869 in two and a half seasons running the Beavers' offense. Byrne dished out 44 assists in each of MISU's home matches, a 3-1 loss to No. 1 ranked Concordia St. Paul and a 3-0 win over Minnesota State. For the week, she averaged 11.7 assists per set, had three service aces, two block assists, two kills and 24 digs. Minot State went 2-1 on the week and taking three of their past four NSIC matches. The team's only blemish in the past four was a 3-1 loss against No. 1 ranked Concordia-St. Paul, the first set the Beavers have won against a ranked NSIC opponent in the two season's since becoming a member of the league. Minot State swept the University of Mary on the road Tuesday and Minnesota State at home Saturday. nonconference play and start a four-match road trip with Upper Iowa Friday and Winona State Saturday.

Last Week for the Marauders... A nail-biting first set loss to Minnesota State doomed the University of Mary on Friday as it fell 3-1 on Friday night. On Saturday U-Mary was swept by #1 Concordia-St. Paul. Against Minnesota State a back and forth first set, U-Mary dropped the opener 29-27 as they went on to fall in four sets. Alexis Jacobs finished with a game-high 17 kills and added team-high 13 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Lauren Boldt also had a strong performance finishing with 12 kills. The Marauders offense was paced by Janell Finkbeiner's 35 assists. On Saturday U-Mary knew it would have its hands full when No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul came to town. The Golden Bears offensive proficiency was evident as the Marauders attempted their fewest attacks and recorded their fewest digs of the season. Boldt made the most of the teams limited attempts converting eight kills on just 17 attempts for a .294 hitting percentage.
