This Weekend's Action... Upper Iowa finishes up the 2012 regular season at home as the team continues to battle for a spot in the NSIC Tournament. The Peacocks sit in ninth place with a 9-9 mark in NSIC play and find themselves two games behind a host of teams tied for fifth. Upper Iowa will play host to the #16 Wayne State Wildcats Friday night who are fourth in the NSIC with a 12-6 conference record. That match begins at 7 p.m. Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. the Peacocks take on the Vikings of Augustana College in the regular season finale. Augustana is tied for fifth in the NSIC with an 11-7 record.

Kayla Wagner is ranked 8th nationally in blocks with 1.34 per set and 94th in hitting percentage at .313. Junior
Melanie Behnke is 58th in the country in kills with 3.53 per set and 105th in points per set with 3.78. Senior
Skylar Lesan is 90th nationally in assists with 9.13 per set. As a team, the Peacocks rank 32nd in blocks per set at 2.24 and 70th in digs per set with 16.45.
Peacocks Ranked in the NSIC... Wagner is fourth in blocks/set with 1.34, while Behnke is tenth in kills/set with 3.51. Wagner also sits tenth in the NSIC in hitting percentage with a .317 average.
Leading the Peacocks... On offense, the Peacocks are led by the trio of Behnke, Jennifer Mundt and Wagner. Behnke leads the team in kills with 359, while Mundt, a freshman, is second on the team with 262. Wagner has recorded 207 kills from her middle position. Lesan paces the Peacock offense with 705 assists, while Weiss leads the back row defense with 413 digs. Wagner, Hailey Brown and Maryn Fulton have combined for 270 blocks this year.
How the #16 Wildcats Fared Last Week... Cori Hobbs, a 6-0 junior outside hitter from Battle Creek, Neb. averaged a team-high 3.67 kills along with 2.83 digs per set as Wayne State went 1-1 over the weekend. Hobbs had 13 kills with eight digs against Concordia-St. Paul and added nine kills with nine digs in Saturday’s 3-0 sweep over #14 Minnesota State. Katie Hughes, a 5-11 freshman from Seward, Nebraska averaged a team best 4.67 digs per set for the Wildcats in two home matches over the weekend. Her best match came on Saturday with 22 digs in a 3-0 sweep over Minnesota State. Leisa McClintock, a 5-6 redshirt freshman from Sioux City, Iowa averaged 9.33 set assists, 2.50 digs and 1.67 kills per set in Wayne State’s 1-1 weekend. McClintock notched 30 assists with eight digs and eight kills in Saturday’s 3-0 sweep over #14 Minnesota State and had 26 assists with seven digs Friday vs. Concordia-St. Paul.
How the Vikings Fared Last Week... Junior Taylor Hrdlichka tallied 20 total kills and swung at a .326 to help the Vikings upset no. 14 Minnesota State and finish the weekend 1-1. Hrdlichka smashed 14 kills with just one error for a career-high .619 attack percentage in a loss to no. 2 Concordia St. Paul. In Augustana’s win over Minnesota State, the junior middle blocker drilled six kills paired with two solo blocks and three block assists. Freshman Marissa Johnson racked up 70 set assists helping the Vikings to an upset victory over no. 14 Minnesota State and a 1-1 finish on the weekend. Johnson dished out 37 assists and 33 assists against Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul, respectively, for an 11.67 assists/set average against two highly-ranked opponents. Junior Grace Sanders tallied 34 digs in two matches as the Vikings upset no. 14 Minnesota State and finished the weekend 1-1. Sanders was huge in the win over the Mavericks with 26 digs in just three sets of work for a 8.67 digs/set average. Augustana defeated no. 14 Minnesota State for the second consecutive time sweeping the Mavericks 25-20, 26-24, 25-18. Junior outside hitter Courtney Ysker led a furious comeback in the second set with four kills in the last six points and the Vikings rode the wave of momentum along with Grace Sanders’ 26 digs to drop MSU for the season sweep. The Vikings’ struggles against Concordia-St. Paul continued as the Golden Bears swept Augustana. Taylor Hrdlichka did provide a bright spot with 14 kills and a career-high .619 hitting percentage, but it wasnt enough to take down the second-ranked Golden Bears
