This Weekend’s Northern Sun Contests... Upper Iowa returns home this Saturday and Sunday for its first home games of 2012. The Peacocks will welcome the Huskies of St. Cloud State University and the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul for a pair of 2 p.m. tipoffs.
Looking at the Records... The Huskies are 2-5 in NSIC games, while the Golden Bears are 3-4. UIU is in search of their fi rst win of the season and enters the weekend at 0-7 in conference games. SCSU has lost three of the last four games, while CU is on a four-game skid.
Leading the Peacocks... Whitney Kieffer leads the team with 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2 steals per game. Jeri Jacobson also averages double fi gures with 11.4 points; the senior is also grabbing 5.5 rebounds. Laura TerHark is netting 7.3 points per game thanks to 39.6% shooting from behind the three-point line, while Jen Herrick adds 6.7 points and Ashlee Bailey is contributing 4.6 points and 5.9 rebounds.

This Weekend’s Northern Sun Contests… The Peacock snapped a six-game losing streak on Tuesday night in Bismarck, N.D. with an overtime victory over the Marauders of U-Mary. This weekend marks the first home games for UIU in 2012. Upper Iowa will welcome in the Huskies of St. Cloud State University on Saturday and the Huskies of Concordia University, St. Paul on Sunday for a pair of 4 p.m. tipoffs.
Leading the Peacocks… Tucker Wentzien leads the UIU offense with a 14.5 point average; the junior from Solon is also grabbing 7.3 rebounds. Wentzien ranks 29th nationally in field goal percentage (59.3%). Sam Elgin is also averaging double figures with 11.9 points a game, while Jake Hughes adds 8.2 points and 2.2 assists per game. Six Peacocks are averaging at least 6 points per contest, while the team is shooting 44.3% from the floor including 38.5% from three.
