This Weekend’s Northern Sun Contests... Upper Iowa will host the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth and the Beavers of Bemidji State this weekend in the team’s final home games of 2011. The Peacocks are coming off a tough, three-point loss to Winona State in their NSIC opener. UMD comes in with a 4-2 record overall after splitting last weekend’s NSIC openers, while BSU is 3-3 overall and also 1-1 in the NSIC after last weekend’s action. Minnesota Duluth defeated Minnesota, Crookston, but lost to MSU Moorhead, while Bemidji State took down MSU Moorhead, but dropped a decision to Minnesota, Crookston.
Leading the Peacocks... Whitney Kieffer leads the Peacocks with 15.4 points, 7 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. Jeri Jacobson is also averaging double figures with 11.8 points; the senior is also pulling down 5.2 rebounds per game. Jen Herrick adds 7.2 points and Ashlee Bailey is grabbing 5.2 rebounds.

Both teams lost to MSU Moorhead, but picked up dominating wins against Minnesota, Crookston.
Leading the Peacocks... Tucker Wentzien leads the UIU offense with a 14.6 point average; the junior from Solon is also grabbing 7.2 rebounds. Sam Elgin is also averaging double figures with 13 points a game. Eight Peacocks are averaging at least 4 points per contest, while the team is shooting 44.4% from the floor including 35% from three.
